Connect your existing phone number or buy a local number in lemlist to start calling prospects directly from your dashboard. Having a number inside lemlist eliminates tool‑switching and automatically logs your calls to your CRM. Setup takes about 5–10 minutes.

Why This Matters

Being able to call from within lemlist means you no longer have to juggle between multiple tools or forget to log your calls. When you connect your own number or buy a new one, every call is recorded, synced with your CRM, and available in your campaign stats. This seamless workflow helps you stay on top of conversations and move deals forward faster.

Key Concept: Connect vs Buy

Before you start, decide if you want to connect your existing phone number or buy a new local number. Here’s how to choose:

  • Connect an existing number if you already have a phone line you use for sales calls (you can connect virtual phone numbers bought via Ringover, Aircall, Onoff ect). You’ll verify it by receiving a 6‑digit code via phone, and all outbound calls will show this caller ID.

  • Buy a new number if you need a dedicated line or want a local presence in another country. lemlist offers numbers in several countries (currently the US, UK, France, Germany, Belgium and Canada, with more being added). Purchased numbers cost around $15 per user per month, and you can set up call‑forwarding to your own phone number for purposes of inbound calls.

💡 Tip: You can connect up to 1 number per user on the Multichannel Expert plan, and up to 3 phone numbers on the Enterprise plan. For multiple teams, repeat the process for each user who needs calling access.

Step‑by‑Step Guide

Option 1 – Connect your existing number

  1. Go to Settings → Call settings. Scroll down, then click on Add a number

  2. Click Connect phone numbers.

  3. Choose your country, and enter your existing phone number.

  4. Answer the verification call. A 6‑digit code appears on screen. lemlist will call your number; when prompted, enter the code to verify ownership. If the call doesn’t arrive within 1 minute, you can request another.

  5. Confirm the number. Once verified, your number will appear in the Phone numbers list as Active. You’re ready to start calling.

Option 2 – Buy a new number

  1. Go to Settings → Call settings. Scroll down, then click on Add a number

  2. Click on Buy number.

  3. Choose the country you want a local presence in (US, UK, France, Germany, Belgium or Canada; more to come). The UI will indicate whether a regulatory bundle is required.

  4. Complete regulatory details (if needed). Some countries require company documents or proof of address. Fill in the requested fields; they update dynamically based on country regulations. Submit your information and track the approval status inside lemlist.

  5. Choose a number and confirm purchase. Pick a number from the list, click Buy, and confirm. The cost is about $15 per user per month. Your new number appears as Active in the Phone numbers list once the purchase is complete.

How You'll Know It Worked

✓ You can make a test call by clicking the phone icon next to a lead in your Contacts or Tasks view

✓ Call logs and recordings show up in the Calls tab and sync to your CRM automatically

✓ Calls are logged in the contact panel's activity section (visible from extensions like LinkedIn and HubSpot)

✓ (For purchased numbers) Incoming calls are forwarded to your designated callback number

Billing & Pricing

  • Minutes & credits: Each call minute consumes four credits. The Multichannel Expert plan includes ~100 minutes per user/month, and the Enterprise plan includes ~300 minutes per user/month. Additional minutes can be purchased from the same page using your lemlist credits.

  • Number cost: Purchased numbers are billed monthly per user (around $15). To stop being charged, delete any unused numbers and remove the corresponding phone seats from your billing page.

Troubleshooting

  • The verification call didn’t arrive

    • Issue: You don’t receive the 6‑digit verification call.

    • Root cause: The number may be blocked or incorrectly entered.

    • Fix: Double‑check the number format, ensure your phone can receive calls from unknown numbers, and click Resend code. If still no call, try connecting to another number.

  • Unable to purchase a number in my country

    • Issue: The country isn’t available in the list.

    • Root cause: lemlist currently supports only specific countries.

    • Fix: Choose a supported country or wait for upcoming expansions. For immediate needs, consider connecting your existing number.

  • Insufficient credits to make calls

    • Issue: The call won’t start or ends abruptly.

    • Root cause: Your credit balance is too low.

    • Fix: Go to Credits in your billing section, purchase more credits, then return to your call.
