TL;DR
lemlist has two different sender names: (1) the email sender name — shown to recipients in their inbox — set in Gmail and synced in lemlist (Settings → Sending settings → Settings next to your sender → Refresh); (2) the variable sender name — inserted when you use {{Sender name}}, {{Sender first name}}, or {{Sender last name}} in your templates — updated directly in your lemlist account settings.
Two different sender names, two different places to change them. The email sender name (what recipients see in the "From" field) comes from Gmail or your email provider. The variable sender name (used by the {{Sender name}}, {{Sender first name}}, and {{Sender last name}} variables in templates) comes from your lemlist account settings — changing it in Gmail has no effect on it.
Why This Matters
lemlist pulls your sender name directly from Gmail. Keeping this name consistent across tools helps contacts recognize you more easily and can improve reply rates.
Step-by-Step Guide
Update Your Name in Gmail
Log into your Gmail account.
Click the gear icon in the top-right corner and select "See all settings".
In the "Settings" menu, go to the Accounts tab.
Click "Edit info" next to the email address (or alias) whose display name you want to change.
Set your desired display name.
Click "Save Changes".
Sync Your New Name in lemlist
In lemlist: Settings → Sending settings → Settings next to email → Refresh
Click in your name and then Settings.
Select sending settings and click on the email section
Click the "Settings" button next to the email address you’ve connected (the one you just edited in Gmail).
Click the "Refresh" button to pull the latest sender name from Gmail.
After refreshing, you should see your updated name displayed next to your email address.
Change the variable sender name
The variables {{Sender name}}, {{Sender first name}}, and {{Sender last name}} are not linked to your Gmail display name. They are pulled from your lemlist account settings.
To update them, go to your lemlist account settings and update your name there. The variables in your templates will reflect the change immediately.
Troubleshooting / Pitfalls
Change not showing: wait a few minutes, then click Refresh again in lemlist.
Multiple aliases: make sure you edited the correct From address in Gmail (the same one connected as your sender in lemlist).
