Set up your SMTP and IMAP

⛔️ Incompatible SMTP Providers

Before we start, please note that the following SMTP providers are not compatible with lemlist:

  • Sendgrid

  • Mailgun

  • Sendinblue/Brevo

  • Mailjet

  • O2switch

  • AmazonSES

  • Postmark

  • Cloudmark

  • Hostgator

  • Proton Mail


1. How to Set Up Your SMTP and IMAP

Step 1: Access Settings

1️⃣ Navigate to the Settings section in the side menu.


2️⃣ Click on Sending Settings and select Connect new email address.


Step 2: Select "Other Email Provider"

Choose Other email provider (SMTP/IMAP) as your connection type.


Step 3: Enter Your Email and Password

1️⃣ Type in the email address and password you want to connect.
2️⃣ Click Connect—lemlist will recognize the need for additional setup and open a pop-up window for SMTP/IMAP configuration.


Step 4: Configure SMTP and IMAP

  • SMTP (Outgoing Mail Server)
    Provide the SMTP host and port details from your email provider.

  • IMAP (Incoming Mail Server)
    Enter the IMAP host and port to enable lemlist to check your inbox for replies.

💡 Pro Tip: The username/password is usually the same for both SMTP and IMAP settings.

This step is essential for:
▪️ Stopping follow-up sequences when replies are received.
▪️ Recording replies in your campaign reports.
▪️ Creating new opportunities.
▪️ Allowing you to reply to emails directly from lemlist.


2. Test and Save Your Settings

After filling in the required fields:
1️⃣ Click Save changes to test the connection.
2️⃣ If successful, your email account is ready to go! 😇
3️⃣ Don’t forget to Save changes again to finalize the setup.
