Learn how to use the lemlist LinkedIn Chrome extension to supercharge your multichannel campaigns with ease.

Import LinkedIn leads into lemlist with the Chrome extension

Learning Objective

By the end of this tutorial, you’ll know how to install the lemlist Chrome extension, connect it to LinkedIn, and push leads from LinkedIn (or Sales Navigator) into lemlist as contacts or directly into a campaign.

Why This Matters

Importing leads from LinkedIn with the extension helps you build multichannel campaigns faster, reduce manual copy/paste work, and keep lead data consistent across your outreach—especially when you want to move quickly from a LinkedIn search to a running lemlist campaign.

Prerequisites

  • You’re using Google Chrome.

  • You’re logged into the lemlist workspace you want to use.

  • You’re logged into the LinkedIn account you want to connect.

Note: The extension works on LinkedIn searches/profiles and Sales Navigator searches/lists. It does not work with LinkedIn Recruiter or from a LinkedIn event page.

Core Lesson — Step-by-Step Workflow

Phase 1: Install and connect the extension

  1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store. Open the lemlist extension page and click Add to Chrome.

  2. Finish the onboarding screen. After installation, you’ll see the lemlist extension welcome screen—click Get started.

  3. Open the extension on LinkedIn. On any LinkedIn page, click the lemlist extension icon to launch the sidebar.

  4. Link your LinkedIn account to your lemlist account. In the extension sidebar, click Refresh profile (if needed), then click Link this account.

💡 The email address you use on lemlist does not have to match the one you use on LinkedIn.

Phase 2: Find leads to import from LinkedIn

  1. Run a LinkedIn People search (or open a profile). Use LinkedIn filters to narrow down your target group, then stay on the People results view to select leads for import.

📌 Advanced strategy: consider using connection acceptance status (e.g., people who accepted your invitations) to focus on more engaged prospects.

Phase 3: Push leads to lemlist (Contacts or Campaign)

  1. Select leads and open the push menu. In the People search results, select one or more profiles using the checkboxes, then click Push profile(s) to lemlist.

  2. Choose what to push. From the dropdown, select Push selected profiles (or choose another option if you prefer).

  3. (Optional) Choose enrichment. In the sidebar, you can enable enrichment options like finding verified emails and phone numbers (optional, paid only on success).

  4. Choose where to push the leads. Under Push profile to, select Campaign (to add them straight into a sequence) or Contact (to store them as contacts), then choose the campaign (if applicable) and click Enrich lead & add to campaign.

  5. Set duplicate handling (recommended). Before confirming, review the duplicate setting (for example, Remove leads already in selected campaign) and click Change option if you need a different behavior.

If someone lists multiple current roles, lemlist will use whichever appears first on their LinkedIn profile (the one at the top).

Practical Application / Real-Life Example

Example workflow: run a LinkedIn People search for your target role + location, select 10–50 relevant profiles, then push them directly into a draft lemlist campaign so you can start a multichannel sequence right away (LinkedIn steps + email follow-ups).

If you want to import more information on the leads, enable enrichment options in the push sidebar (for example, verified emails and phone numbers). Enrichment is paid only on success (as shown in the extension).

Troubleshooting & Pitfalls

Issue: “LinkedIn cookie missing” error

What you’ll see: A “LinkedIn cookie missing” error.

Root cause: The connection between LinkedIn and lemlist relies on browser cookies and can break after logging out of LinkedIn/lemlist or clearing cookies.

Fix:

  • Log back into LinkedIn and lemlist in the same Chrome profile.

  • Open the extension on LinkedIn and, if needed, use Refresh profile, then re-link the account.

Prevention: Avoid logging out or clearing cookies while running active LinkedIn steps; if you do clear cookies, reconnect the extension right after.

Working with Campaign Variables

Campaign Variables can be edited only after you push a contact to a campaign. This helps keep campaign data synchronized and easier to track.

To edit campaign variables:

  1. Push your contact to an active campaign.

  2. Once the contact is added, modify the campaign variables for that contact.

Duplicates: what to expect

If you previously imported the same lead via the extension, the profile will be updated in lemlist and not duplicated.

When importing leads, choose the deduplication option you want to apply (the extension checks identifiers like email address and LinkedIn member ID to help avoid re-importing leads already present elsewhere).

Why can’t I find my campaign in the list?

The campaign picker excludes campaigns where you previously imported leads from a CRM, because you can’t mix CRM imports and Chrome extension imports in the same campaign.

Import limits

  • LinkedIn: maximum of 999 leads per import.

  • Sales Navigator: limit is 2.5k leads.
