By the end of this tutorial, you’ll know how to use lemAgent as an AI assistant inside Lemlist to find leads and companies, create outreach campaigns, write messages, analyze performance, and check deliverability—all from a conversational workflow instead of jumping between tools.
Beta feature: lemAgent is currently available in beta, so it may not be visible or accessible in every Lemlist workspace yet.
Why this matters
lemAgent helps you move faster in Lemlist by turning complex workflows into simple conversations. Instead of manually navigating multiple pages, you can describe your goal in natural language and let lemAgent guide you, retrieve data, or take action for you.
Prerequisites
You should already have access to a Lemlist workspace.
lemAgent must be enabled in your workspace. Since it is currently in beta, it is not available for all users yet.
You should already know the basics of working with campaigns, leads, and deliverability in Lemlist.
For multichannel outreach tasks, it helps to have your email and LinkedIn accounts connected.
What you can do with lemAgent
lemAgent supports three main categories of work:
1. Lead generation
Use lemAgent to identify prospects, search companies that match your ICP, and build prospect lists faster.
Find decision-makers
Search for companies by geography, headcount, or hiring signals
Build targeted lead lists automatically
Example prompts:
“Find CEOs of SaaS companies in Germany”
“Search companies hiring SDRs in the US”
“Build a prospect list of B2B startups with 50–200 employees”
2. Outreach creation
Use lemAgent to create or improve campaigns, write messages, personalize copy, and structure multichannel sequences.
Create multichannel outreach campaigns
Write cold emails and follow-ups
Personalize messages for specific personas or industries
Suggest campaign structure across email and LinkedIn
Example prompts:
“Create a multichannel outreach campaign for HR leaders”
“Write a cold email for founders about improving deliverability”
“Personalize this message for marketing agencies”
3. Performance and deliverability insights
lemAgent can also retrieve workspace data and help you understand what is working.
List active campaigns
Highlight best-performing campaigns
Analyze reply rates and campaign performance
Check domain health and deliverability setup
Review potential SPF, DKIM, or DMARC issues
Example prompts:
“List all active campaigns”
“Show my best-performing campaigns”
“Analyze my reply rate”
“Check my domain health”
Tip: The best way to think about lemAgent is as a conversational layer on top of Lemlist. You tell it the outcome you want, and it helps plan or execute the steps for you.
How to use lemAgent
Phase 1: Open lemAgent and start a conversation
From the left sidebar, click lemAgent to open the assistant. You can either start from the main lemAgent home screen or open a conversation view directly. This is where you’ll describe what you want to achieve in plain language. If you don’t see lemAgent in your workspace, it may not be available to you yet because the feature is still in beta.
Type your request into the prompt box, or use one of the suggested ideas to get started. Good prompts focus on the goal rather than the tool action—for example, ask for leads, campaign help, or performance analysis instead of trying to map every click yourself.
If you want to keep work organized, create a New conversation. Your past threads stay visible in the left panel, so you can return to previous lead searches, campaign drafts, or analysis requests later.
Phase 2: Describe your goal clearly
lemAgent works best when you give it enough context to understand your objective. The more specific you are, the better the output will be.
Instead of: “Find leads”
Try: “Find CTOs of SaaS companies with 50–200 employees in the UK.”
Instead of: “Create a campaign”
Try: “Create a multichannel campaign to book discovery calls with HR leaders in US tech companies.”
Useful prompt styles include:
Lead generation: Who you want, where they are, and what kind of companies they work for
Outreach: Your audience, offer, and desired call to action
Performance: What metric, segment, or time period you want analyzed
Deliverability: The domain or issue you want checked
Phase 3: Let lemAgent guide you through the workflow
Depending on your request, lemAgent may retrieve data, ask follow-up questions, suggest next steps, generate assets, or execute part of the workflow for you.
After you submit a request, lemAgent starts reasoning through the task and may break it into actions. This is useful because it shows that the assistant is building the workflow step by step rather than giving a generic answer.
For more complex tasks, lemAgent asks discovery questions before generating results. For example, when building a campaign, it may ask for the objective, audience pain point, target geography, or channel mix so the output matches your real use case.
Phase 4: Review and validate the campaign strategy
Once lemAgent has enough context, it can generate a campaign strategy that includes the objective, target audience, messaging angle, CTA, and sequence logic. Review the proposal carefully to make sure the ICP, offer, and outreach angle match your goals, then click Validate if it looks right.
After the strategy is locked in, lemAgent may offer next-step choices such as designing the outreach sequence, finding leads first, or doing both in parallel. This branching is helpful because you can decide whether to perfect the workflow before sourcing prospects or move faster by building both tracks together.
Phase 5: Review the sequence and messages
When lemAgent builds the sequence, review the order of steps, waits, and branches. Make sure the timing and channel logic fit your sales motion, then click Validate to approve the sequence.
lemAgent can also draft the actual messages for your campaign. Before creating the campaign, review the copy, personalization tokens, and CTA, then confirm that you want lemAgent to proceed.
Phase 6: Finish setup and add leads
After the campaign is created, lemAgent can guide you to the remaining launch steps, such as assigning a sender or searching for leads. If you are not ready to go live yet, this is a good point to pause and review your setup.
Select the leads you want to target in the leads table, then use Push to… to prepare them for the next action. This helps you move directly from AI-sourced results into execution without rebuilding the list manually.
From the Push to… menu, choose Push to campaign if you want to add the selected leads to your campaign.
In the confirmation window, choose the campaign and optionally enrich leads with verified emails or phone numbers before pushing them in. This is useful when you want cleaner data and stronger channel coverage before launch.
Best practices for better lemAgent results
Be specific: Include persona, company type, geography, company size, or goal.
Describe the outcome: Focus on what you want to achieve, not just what button you think should be clicked.
Iterate: If the first result is too broad, refine it with follow-up instructions.
Validate before launching: Review strategy, sequence logic, and messaging before pushing leads live.
Use it beyond campaigns: lemAgent is just as useful for lead research, deliverability checks, and workspace insights.
Troubleshooting and common pitfalls
Issue: I can’t see lemAgent in my workspace
Root cause: lemAgent is currently a beta feature and is not available for all users yet.
Fix:
Confirm whether the feature is enabled in your workspace.
If you do not see lemAgent in the sidebar, it may not have been rolled out to your account yet.
Contact support or your Lemlist point of contact if you want to confirm availability.
Issue: The output is too broad
Root cause: The prompt does not include enough context.
Fix:
Add filters like job title, geography, employee count, or industry.
Clarify the end goal, such as booking meetings or generating replies.
Ask a follow-up question to narrow the result.
Issue: lemAgent asks more questions before acting
Root cause: The request needs more information before it can generate a reliable result.
Fix:
Answer the discovery questions with specific business context.
If you already know the answer, include it in the first prompt next time.
Use validation steps to confirm the output before moving on.
Issue: Campaign setup is complete, but leads are not added yet
Root cause: Strategy, sequence, and messages were created, but the audience still needs to be selected and pushed into the campaign.
Fix:
Select the leads you want in the leads table.
Use Push to… and choose Push to campaign.
Optionally enrich with verified emails or phone numbers before pushing.
Issue: The generated campaign needs changes
Root cause: The strategy or messaging was validated before final adjustments were made.
Fix:
Use the modify or review options before final creation.
Check the ICP, CTA, and channel order carefully.
Update the prompt with clearer guidance and ask lemAgent to revise.
Issue: You are using lemAgent only for campaign creation
Root cause: It is easy to miss its broader capabilities.
Fix:
Use it for lead generation, reporting questions, and deliverability checks too.
Try prompt categories like Lead Generation, Outreach, and Performance to explore more workflows.
Final tip: lemAgent gets more useful the more you use it. Start with one clear task, then refine your requests over time to discover faster ways to prospect, launch outreach, and analyze results inside Lemlist.
