If you want to analyze your calls outside lemlist — in a spreadsheet, a BI tool, or an LLM — you can export them from the Calls section as a CSV file. The export can include the transcript and the AI summary of each call, so the conversation itself sits in the same file as the call outcome and the lead details. This article covers how to run the export, what the file contains, and what to check when a column comes out empty.
Limitations
Only the calls you select in the table are exported.
A transcript only exists for calls that were recorded. A call that was not recorded is exported with an empty transcript cell.
The transcript is exported unformatted, in a single cell — one cell holds the full conversation, with a speaker label in front of each turn.
The transcript and AI summary options are off every time you open the export dialog. They are not remembered from your last export.
Prerequisites
You have access to the Calls section in your workspace.
You have already placed calls through lemlist.
Core lesson
Phase 1: Select the calls you want to export
Open your call history.
Go to Calls from the main navigation. This section shows all calls made through lemlist, including calls placed outside of campaigns. The tabs at the top — All calls, My calls, Outbound, Inbound — are a first way to narrow what you are looking at.
Narrow the list with filters.
Click Filters and build one or more conditions, for example Call date and time is relative to this week, or Call recorded is true. If you run the same export regularly, save the set with Save as new view so you do not rebuild it each time.
Select the calls in the table.
Tick one or more calls, or use Select all. The bottom bar shows how many are selected. Anything left unselected is not included in the file.
Phase 2: Run the export
Start the export.
In the bottom bar, click Export calls as .CSV.
Choose whether to include the transcript and the AI summary.
The Export calls dialog opens with two checkboxes, Include AI summary and Include transcript. Both are unticked by default, so tick what you need before continuing. Each one adds its own column to the file. As the dialog notes, including transcripts can make the export take longer than usual.
Click Export, then open the file.
✅ Verify: the downloaded CSV has one row per selected call, and the
transcriptcolumn is filled in for the calls that were recorded.
Phase 3: Know what is in the file
Each row is one call. The summary and transcript columns sit alongside the call outcome and the lead attributes, which is what lets you correlate conversations with job titles, industries, or company sizes without joining several exports together.
In the transcript column, each turn of the conversation is prefixed with a speaker label, so you can tell who said what inside the single cell.
Two columns in this file are about minute consumption rather than conversation content: Country code multiplier and Billed minutes. See In-app calling: destination tiers and minute pricing for how those are calculated.
Practical example
A team running high-volume cold calling exports a month of calls with transcripts enabled, then passes the file to an LLM to look for patterns: which job titles push back on price, which industries ask for a demo, which company sizes go quiet after the first minute. Because the outcome and the lead attributes sit in the same rows as the transcripts, no extra data preparation is needed before the analysis.
Troubleshooting and pitfalls
Issue: The transcript column is empty for some calls.
Root cause: Those calls were not recorded. Without a recording there is nothing to transcribe.
Fix:
Go to Calls and add the filter Call recorded is true to see which of your calls actually have a recording.
Check your call recording settings so that future calls are recorded.
For the calls already made without a recording, use the notes on the call instead.
Issue: The summary column is empty.
Root cause: The Include AI summary checkbox was left unticked, or the call has no summary yet.
Fix:
Run the export again and tick Include AI summary — the checkboxes reset every time the dialog opens.
Open one of the affected calls and confirm a summary exists on the call record.
Issue: The file does not contain all the calls I expected.
Root cause: The export covers the calls you selected, within the filters and the tab that were active at the time.
Fix:
Go back to Calls and check the tab you are on — Outbound and Inbound each hide part of your calls.
Clear the filter conditions, then use Select all.
Run the export again.
If your case is different
If you want to read or search the transcript of a single call rather than export, see the article on reviewing a call.
If you want charts and trends rather than raw rows, use the call widgets in Reports.
If you are tracking minute consumption for your team, see In-app calling: destination tiers and minute pricing.
