Learning objective
By the end of this tutorial, you’ll know how to open an email step preview, send yourself a test email, and review the deliverability checks available before launch.
Why this matters
Previewing your email before launch helps you confirm that personalization, formatting, and content render as expected. Running the available deliverability checks can also help you catch issues that may affect inbox placement and overall campaign performance.
Prerequisites
You have a campaign created with at least one Email step.
Your user account has an email provider connected if you want to send a test email.
Core workflow: Preview and review your email
1) Open your campaign
From the left sidebar, click Campaigns, then open the campaign you want to check.
2) Open the email step preview
Inside the campaign, go to Sequence, select the Email step you want to review, then click Preview. This opens the email preview window so you can inspect the message before launch.
3) Send yourself a test email
In the preview window, click Send email test, enter the email address where you want to receive the test, then send it. This is useful for checking how the email looks in a real inbox.
4) Review the deliverability checks
In the preview window, use the Deliverability Boost panel on the right to review your email before launch. From here, you can analyze the copy, run a technical and spam check, and test inbox placement.
Practical application: what to look for
Content - Copywriting: Review your message for wording that could reduce engagement or trigger spam filters.
Content & tech check: Use this to validate the email structure, links, authentication settings, and spam-related issues.
Inbox placement: Test where your email is likely to land across supported providers.
Troubleshooting & pitfalls
Issue: The test email won’t send
Root cause: The logged-in user doesn’t have an email provider connected.
Fix: Connect an email provider to the logged-in user, then try Send email test again.
Issue: Deliverability checks show technical or authentication problems
Root cause: Your DNS records or email setup may be incomplete or not fully propagated.
Fix: Verify your domain DNS configuration and re-test after updates propagate. Learn more about DNS testing here.
Note: Test emails are sent from the email address of the logged-in user.
If the logged-in account doesn’t have a connected email provider, the test email can’t be sent.
