When you manage multiple teams in lemlist (for example, different clients, regions, or brands), archiving helps you organize teams you’re not actively using while keeping your workspace clean and easy to navigate. You can unarchive the team later and pick up where you left off.
Learning objective
By the end of this tutorial, you’ll know how to archive a team, how to view archived teams, and how to unarchive a team, plus how to avoid unnecessary billing before you archive.
Why this matters
Archiving keeps your team list tidy and reduces mistakes (like inviting users or editing settings in the wrong team). It’s especially useful for agencies and admins who rotate between many teams over time.
Prerequisites
You have access to the workspace admin area (Cockpit) where teams are managed.
If you’re aiming to stop paying for that team, you should cancel the subscription first (see notes below).
Phase 1: Open the team management area (Cockpit)
Click your profile in the bottom-left corner.
Select Cockpit to access team management.
Phase 2: Archive a team (pause it)
In Cockpit, stay on the Manage teams tab.
Find the team you want to pause.
Click the Archive icon on the far right of that team’s row.
What happens when you archive? The team is hidden from your active team list to reduce clutter, but it’s not deleted. Data and settings remain available if you unarchive later.
Important billing note (read before archiving)
Archiving a team is not the same as canceling its subscription. If your goal is to stop being billed for that team, make sure you cancel the subscription first (e.g., in your billing settings) before archiving, otherwise you may continue to be charged unnecessarily.
Phase 3: View archived teams
In the top-right of the Manage teams view, find the See archived teams toggle.
Turn it on to display archived teams in the list.
Once enabled, archived teams appear in the list and you’ll see an Unarchive option on the right side of each archived team row.
Phase 4: Unarchive a team (restore it)
Turn on See archived teams.
Locate the archived team you want to restore.
Click Unarchive to bring it back to your active teams list.
Practical example: When to archive vs. keep active
Archive a team when a client project is on hold, a seasonal campaign is finished, or you want to reduce noise in your team list while keeping everything for later.
Keep a team active if you still need quick access for reporting, ongoing inbox monitoring, or frequent user management.
Troubleshooting & common pitfalls
“I archived the team but I’m still being billed.”
Cause: Archiving doesn’t cancel subscriptions.
Fix: Cancel the team’s subscription in your billing area first, then archive to keep your team list organized.“I can’t find my archived team.”
Cause: Archived teams are hidden by default.
Fix: Go to Cockpit → Manage teams and enable See archived teams.“Will archiving delete the team or its data?”
Answer: No. Archiving is not deletion. You can unarchive later to restore access.
