Fix: Google Workspace mailbox shows Suspended in Sending Settings

Updated this week

TL;DR:

Sign in to admin.google.com with the Google Workspace admin account and accept the Google terms of service, then go to Sending Settings in lemlist, unlink the affected Google account, and link it again through Finalize setup. Verify the account no longer shows Suspended and sending works normally.

Symptoms

  • Your Google sending domain shows Active and Verified, but the account status shows Suspended.

  • Google Workspace sending is not working even though the domain connection looks correct.

  • You are using a Google domain connection, not SMTP, and the mailbox cannot send.

  • The connection appears incomplete until the Google account is reconnected.

Environment

  • Applies to Google Workspace / Google domain connections.

  • Does not apply to SMTP connections.

  • Requires access to the Google Workspace admin account at admin.google.com.

  • Requires access to Sending Settings in lemlist.

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Check that the affected mailbox is connected through Google Workspace and not through SMTP.

  2. Open admin.google.com.

  3. Sign in with the Google Workspace admin account for the affected domain.

  4. Accept the Google terms of service if Google prompts for acceptance.
Verify: The Google Admin login completes without any pending terms screen.

  5. Go back to lemlist and open Sending Settings.

  6. Find the mailbox or sender account showing Suspended.

  7. Click Unlink for the affected Google account.

  8. In the Buy domains & emails section, click on Settings for the affected domain

  9. Select users to whom you want to assign emails

  10. Back in sending settings, click on Finalize setup

  11. Sign in to Google again during the reconnect flow.

  12. Accept the requested Google permissions to complete the connection.
Verify: The reconnect flow completes successfully and the mailbox returns to a normal connected state.

  13. Repeat the same reconnect process for any other affected Google mailboxes on the same workspace if needed.

End state: The Google mailbox no longer shows Suspended, and sending works normally again.

Confirm It's Fixed

  • ✓ The Google account no longer shows Suspended in Sending Settings.

  • ✓ The mailbox appears connected after completing Finalize setup.

  • ✓ Google sign-in and permission approval complete without errors.

  • ✓ Emails can be sent normally from the reconnected mailbox.

Why It Happens / Prevent This

This usually happens because the Google Workspace admin still needs to accept Google's terms of service, so the domain can appear verified while the sending account remains suspended. To prevent this, complete any pending Google Admin prompts before reconnecting the mailbox in lemlist.

Alternatives

  • If the user has access to admin.google.com, the user can accept the terms and reconnect the mailbox without support doing it for them.

  • If multiple mailboxes are affected, reconnect one mailbox first to confirm the fix before reconnecting the rest.

Escalate If Unresolved

  • Share the affected domain, the mailbox address, and whether the connection is Google Workspace or SMTP.

  • Provide the exact status shown in Sending Settings, confirmation that Google terms were accepted in admin.google.com, and any error shown during Finalize setup
