How to enrich leads during and after import

Step-by-step guide to enriching lead data during CSV import, from within a campaign, and from Contacts — including how to re-enrich existing records.

Use these workflows to enrich lead data at any stage — during CSV import, after leads are added to a campaign, or directly from your Contacts database.

Phase 1: Create a campaign and open the lead list

Go to Campaigns, then click Create to start a new campaign, or open an existing one.

Go to Campaigns and click Create

Inside the campaign, open the Leads list tab and click Import new leads to add leads to the campaign.

Phase 2: Import leads (CSV) and enrich during import

Step 1: Choose CSV import and upload your file

In the import options, select CSV import, then drag and drop your file or click the upload area to add your CSV.

Step 2: Review imported fields

Check the detected field mappings before continuing. lemlist shows each CSV column, the mapped lead field, sample values, and overwrite settings.

Review imported field mappings

If a field is mapped incorrectly, click its dropdown to change it. Custom personalization fields can stay mapped as Campaign variable when needed, while standard fields like email, first name, LinkedIn URL, domain, and title should be mapped to the matching lead field.

Step 3: Choose enrichment options during import

On Enrich leads data, choose the enrichments you want to run during import. lemlist shows the credit cost for each option, and Verify existing emails may already be enabled by default. Review the duplicate handling settings, then click Import leads.

Phase 3: Enrich after import from the campaign lead list

After your leads are imported, you can enrich them again from the campaign itself. In the Leads list, click Enrich leads in the top-right corner, then choose the action you want, such as finding phone numbers, finding verified emails, finding LinkedIn profiles and enriching data, verifying primary emails, using AI, or opening Enrichment stats.

Viewing enrichment stats

To review deliverability and enrichment performance, open Enrichment stats. You’ll see overall deliverability plus enrichment progress for email addresses, phone numbers, LinkedIn profiles, and email verification.

Phase 4: Enrich or re-enrich from Contacts

Use this workflow to enrich selected contacts directly from your database without adding them to a campaign first, or to re-enrich contacts that already have data.

Step 1: Select contacts and open Enrichment

Go to Contacts, select the contacts you want, then click Enrichment.

Step 2: Pick enrichment options

Choose the enrichment you need, such as finding phone numbers, finding verified emails, finding LinkedIn profiles and enriching data, or verifying primary emails.

Step 3: Confirm re-enrichment if data already exists

If lemlist detects that some data was already enriched, confirm whether you want to enrich those records again.

Step 4: Track progress or cancel enrichment

Once enrichment starts, you’ll see a progress notification and can cancel it if needed.

Step 5: Review enriched values in Contacts

After enrichment finishes, review the updated values directly in your contact list. Enriched fields can show status indicators, such as a LinkedIn enrichment marker on the contact record.

Optimization tips

Verify before sending - Always verify emails before launching cold campaigns to reduce bounces.

Enrich strategically - Enrich the leads you’ll actually contact, not your entire database.

Re-enrich stale data - Roles and companies change over time, so re-enrich key segments when data looks outdated.
