Set up a delay ⏳

Learn how to set up delays in your email campaigns to control sending speed and ensure messages align with your schedule for maximum effectiveness.

Updated over a week ago

Heeeeey lemlister! 👋

Want to control the pace of your campaign? You can easily adjust the delay between each step of your sequence to match your desired outreach rhythm.

What is a Delay?

The delay determines how many days lemlist will wait before executing the next step of your campaign (for example, sending a follow-up email or creating a task).

How to Set Up a Delay

  1. Go to your campaign and open the Sequence tab.

  2. Enter the delay duration — the number of days you want between each step.

Example: Setting a 2-day delay between Step 1 and Step 2 means lemlist will wait 2 scheduled sending days before executing Step 2.

📅 Important Notes

  • Delays respect your campaign schedule:
Delays count only the days you’ve selected in your sending schedule.
(If you only send emails on weekdays, weekends won’t count toward the delay.)

🧠 Examples

Example 1:
Your campaign sends emails on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.
You set a 2-day delay between Step 1 and Step 2.

If Step 1 is sent on Thursday, the follow-up won’t go out on Saturday.
Instead, it will be sent on Tuesday, the next available sending day.

Example 2:
You send emails on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with a 3-day delay between steps.

If Step 1 goes out on Monday, Step 2 won’t be sent on Thursday (because Thursday isn’t part of your schedule).
It will go out on Friday instead.

Example 3:
You send emails Monday to Friday (no weekends).
You set a 1-day delay between Step 2 and Step 3.

If Step 2 is sent on Friday, Step 3 will be sent on Monday, since Saturday and Sunday are skipped.

🚀 Final Tip

Fine-tune your delays to match your sending schedule and keep your outreach consistent and natural.
Control your campaign timing like a pro! 💪

Enjoy ❤️
