Use the People database

A Guide to Using the lemlist People Database 🌟

Updated over a week ago

Learning Objective

By the end of this guide, you'll know how to search lemlist's People database using filters, push qualified leads directly to campaigns or Contacts, and save searches for future use.

Why This Matters

Building targeted lead lists manually is time-consuming. Scraping LinkedIn, verifying emails, and enriching data can take hours or days. lemlist's People Database eliminates this friction by providing:

  • 450M+ verified contacts ready to use

  • Advanced filtering to find exactly the prospects you need

  • Direct integration with your campaigns, no CSV exports or imports

  • Automatic deduplication to avoid contacting the same leads twice

  • Fresh data refreshed regularly

Instead of spending hours sourcing leads, you can find, filter, and launch campaigns in minutes, allowing you to focus on messaging and outreach strategy.

Prerequisites

Before using the People Database:

  • You have an active lemlist account with access to the People Database (check your plan for credits or limits)

  • You know your target audience – Have a clear idea of who you're looking for (job title, location, etc.)

  • You have a campaign ready (optional but recommended) – Where you'll push the leads after finding them

What Is the lemlist People Database?

The People Database is a B2B contact search engine built into lemlist, containing:

βœ… 450M+ verified contacts from publicly available LinkedIn profiles

βœ… Advanced filtering by job title, location, seniority, and more

βœ… Automatic deduplication – Excludes leads already in your campaigns or Contacts

βœ… Private searches – Your search results and imported leads are visible only to you

Think of it as LinkedIn Sales Navigator + contact details + direct campaign integration in one tool.

Core Lesson: Step-by-Step Workflow

Phase 1: Access the People Database

Step 1: Open the People Database

From the lemlist sidebar (left menu), click People database.

Step 5: Review the applied filters and results

Once filters are applied, they appear at the top of the results area (for example: Current job title is Sales, Country is Australia, and Not already in a campaign). Your results list will populate accordingly.

Phase 3: Select and Push Leads

Important disclaimer about selecting β€œALL” leads

The People Database displays results in pages of 100 leads per page, and by default it shows up to 30 pages (up to 3,000 leads).

When you click the checkbox at the top of the table to select β€œall,” it selects only the 100 leads on the current page (not all leads across all pages).

If you want to select leads across all 30 pages, you must select them page by page: select the 100 leads on page 1, go to page 2 and select the 100 leads there, then page 3, and so on.

Step 6: Select leads and open the β€œPush” menu

Use the checkbox at the top of the table to select the leads on the page, then click Push 100 leads to … in the bottom-right corner.

Step 7: Choose where to push the leads

From the menu, choose either:

  • Push to campaign to send leads into a campaign

  • Push to contacts to store leads in your global Contacts list

Step 8 (Push to campaign): Select the campaign

If you chose Push to campaign, select the destination campaign from the dropdown (or click Create campaign).

Screenshot

Step 9 (Optional): Choose enrichment options before pushing

Before confirming, you can enable/disable options like Find verified emails and Find phone numbers (these may consume credits depending on your plan).

Phase 4: Save Your Search for Future Use

Step 10: Save the current search

Click the save icon at the top of the People Database page, then click Save this search.

Screenshot

Step 11: Name and confirm your saved search

Enter a descriptive name for your search, then click Confirm.

Screenshot

Step 12: Reuse a saved search later

Open the saved searches menu again and select your saved search to re-apply the same filters and refresh the results.

Data Privacy and Security

Your data is private:

βœ… Your searches are visible only to you – Other lemlist users cannot see what you search for

βœ… Your imported leads are exclusive – Leads you push to campaigns or Contacts are yours alone

βœ… No data sharing – lemlist does not reuse or sell your imported lead data

βœ… Public data source – Database is built from publicly available LinkedIn profiles (not private data)

What lemlist does:

  • Aggregates publicly available profile data

  • Helps you find verified emails and phone numbers (depending on your plan/credits)

  • Enriches with company and contact information

What lemlist doesn't do:

  • Share your searches or results with other users

  • Reuse leads you've imported

  • Store your campaign data for others to access

Troubleshooting

Issue: I can't save my search

Root cause: No filters applied, or "Save Search" feature not available in your plan

Fix:

  • Apply at least one filter before attempting to save

  • Click the save icon and select Save this search, then confirm

  • Verify your lemlist plan includes saved searches (some plans may restrict this feature)

Issue: Search results include leads already in my campaigns

Root cause: The exclusion filter is not applied

Fix:

  • In the Filters panel, add/enable the exclusion (e.g., Not already in a campaign) and re-check the results

Issue: I pushed leads but they're not showing up in my campaign

Root cause: Leads were pushed to Contacts instead of Campaign, or the wrong campaign was selected

Fix:

  • Check the Contacts section to see if they were pushed there

  • Try pushing again and make sure you choose Push to campaign and select the correct campaign

Issue: I tried to select β€œALL” leads, but only 100 were pushed

Root cause: The β€œselect all” checkbox selects only the current page (100 leads), not all pages.

Fix:

  • Go page by page and select the 100 leads on each page you want to push (up to 30 pages by default).

Optimization Tips

Start broad, then narrow: Begin with 2–3 filters (job title + country) and refine from there.

Test small batches first: Push 50–100 leads as a test before scaling.

Save searches for personas: Create separate saved searches for each persona you target so you can refresh lead lists quickly.
