Every phone field in the contact panel has a verification icon that tells you whether the number has been confirmed as correct, confirmed as wrong, or not checked yet. Hover over the icon to see the detail and to set the status yourself. You no longer have to open the call or task activity log to find out whether a number is good.
The three states
Grey question mark — the number is not verified. Hovering shows
Phone number not verified.with two buttons:Mark as wrongandMark as good.Red sign — the number is confirmed incorrect. Hovering shows how and when it was confirmed, for example
Confirmed: Wrong number by Automation (phone error).Green sign — the number is confirmed correct. Hovering shows who confirmed it, for example
Confirmed: Good number by Teodora Martić.
A confirmed number also shows a check date under the field, for example Last check: Sep 15, 2026, 10:44 AM.
How a number gets its status
A phone number's status is set in three ways:
You apply the
wrong numberstatus to a call.Twilio returns an error that unambiguously means the number is invalid.
You confirm the number directly on the contact panel.
How do I confirm a number myself?
Open the contact and go to Contact fields.
Hover over the verification icon at the end of the Main phone field.
Click
Mark as wrongorMark as good.
✅ Verify: the grey question mark is replaced by a red sign or a green sign, and the tooltip now names you as the person who confirmed it.
Can I undo a confirmation?
Yes. Hover over the icon and click Reset confirmation. The number goes back to having no status, shown by the grey question mark.
Does a wrong number stop being called?
No. Confirming a number as wrong records the information on the contact — it does not block calls, and the number can still be dialled.
To stop contacting a number altogether, unsubscribe it instead. See Use the Unsubscribes section, where you can unsubscribe a single phone number rather than the whole contact.
What happens to the status if I enrich the contact again?
Enriching or re-enriching the contact overwrites an existing confirmation.
Can I read the status through the API?
Yes. The verification status is also available via the API.
If your case is different
If you want to log what happened on a call rather than judge the number, see How to call leads and log outcomes from Tasks or Contacts.
If the contact has no phone number yet, see Enrich leads with finder, verifier, and phone.
