The contact score gives each contact one engagement score from 0 to 100, calculated across every campaign and channel that contact is part of. Instead of comparing a separate lead score in each campaign, you see one number per person on the Contacts page, and you can send it to HubSpot or Salesforce.
Limitations
Existing contacts show a score of 0 until their next activity. Past activity is not backfilled.
There is no
{{contactScore}}variable. You cannot insert the contact score into a message. There is no lead-level filter for the contact score.
You cannot edit the contact score manually.
You cannot import a contact score.
The Contact Score field syncs from lemlist to your CRM only (lemlist priority).
The contact score does not replace the lead score. Lead scoring is unchanged and stays per campaign.
How the contact score is calculated
The score runs from 0 to 100 and covers every campaign and channel the contact is part of.
When a contact has several leads, their scores add up. The total is capped at 100.
After 3 days without a positive activity, the score decays 3% a day. It never goes below 0.
Merging two contacts recomputes their score.
The contact score uses its own scale in the settings, separate from the lead scale.
Phase 1: Configure the contact scale
Step 1: Open the contact scale
Go to Settings → Data management → Lead scoring → Contact.
Step 2: Set the weight for each activity type
Give each activity type the weight you want it to carry in the contact score.
Step 3: Switch activity types on or off
Use the switch next to each activity type to include it in the contact score or leave it out.
Step 4: Review AI analysis
Check the AI analysis setting on the same page.
✅ Verify: the Contact tab shows your weights and switches. The lead scale is not affected by these changes.
Phase 2: See the contact score on your contacts
Step 1: Open Contacts
From the left sidebar, click Contacts.
Step 2: Find the Contact Score column
The Contact Score column is marked with a flame icon.
Step 3: Sort by score
Click the Contact Score column header to sort contacts by score.
✅ Verify: contacts are ordered by their Contact Score.
Phase 3: Map the contact score to your CRM
Step 1: Open Field Mapping
Go to Settings → Integrations, open your CRM (HubSpot or Salesforce), then open the Field Mapping tab.
Step 2: Map the Contact Score field
Find the Contact Score field (type Number). In the CRM field column, click Select a field and choose the property you want to fill. The sync direction is set to lemlist priority.
In Salesforce, Contact Score appears under both the contacts and the leads object. Map it in each object you use.
✅ Verify: the Contact Score row shows your CRM property instead of Select a field, with lemlist priority as the sync direction.
For general mapping steps, see Map fields for the HubSpot integration or How to configure field and user mapping in Salesforce.
Example
A contact is a lead in two campaigns. One lead has a score of 40 and the other a score of 70. The scores add up to 110, so the contact score is capped at 100.
Troubleshooting
Issue: A contact with past activity shows a Contact Score of 0
Root cause: Past activity is not backfilled. Existing contacts show 0 until their next activity.
Fix: Wait for the contact's next activity. The score starts calculating from there.
Issue: The Contact Score dropped with no new activity
Root cause: After 3 days without a positive activity, the score decays 3% a day, down to a minimum of 0.
Fix: This is how the score works. A new positive activity from the contact stops the drop.
Issue: I can't find the contact score as a variable or as a lead filter
Root cause: The contact score has no {{contactScore}} variable and no lead-level filter.
Fix: Sort by the Contact Score column on the Contacts page. To filter leads or branch a sequence by score inside a campaign, use the lead score.
Issue: The score changed after I merged two contacts
Root cause: Merging two contacts recomputes their score.
Fix: No action needed. The merged contact shows the recomputed score.
