TL;DR
Skip leads to prevent them from entering your campaign without deleting them. Skipped leads stay in your campaign but won't receive any emails. You can un-skip them later if needed. Takes 30 seconds.
Who Should Use This
Anyone reviewing leads before launch who finds incorrect targets
Users with incomplete lead data they want to enrich before sending
Teams who need to temporarily exclude specific leads without losing them
Why This Matters
Skipping is different from deleting. When you skip a lead, they remain in your campaign but won't receive any sequence steps. This is useful when you want to exclude someone temporarily (wrong timing, missing data, needs approval) but might want to launch them later. Deleting removes them permanently.
Step-by-Step Guide
Skip a Lead
Step 1: Open your campaign
Click Campaigns in the left sidebar, then open the campaign you want to review.
Step 2: Skip the lead from the Launch tab
Inside the campaign, go to Launch, click the three-dot menu (⋮) next to the lead you want to exclude, then select Skip.
The lead is immediately removed from the launch queue and won't receive your campaign message.
✅ Verify: The lead disappears from your To launch list and you’ll see a confirmation message.
Common reasons to skip:
Wrong target or persona fit
Missing critical personalization data (need to enrich first)
Awaiting approval before contacting
Duplicate entry (keeping one, skipping the other)
Competitor or partner you shouldn't contact
Un-skip a Lead
Step 3: Find your skipped leads
Open the Lead list tab, click Filters, choose Status, select Skipped, then click Apply.
All leads whose state is Skipped now appear in the list.
Step 4: Un-skip the lead
Select the checkbox next to the lead you want to restore, then click More actions.
Choose Unskip 1 lead.
The lead is no longer marked as skipped and returns to the launch flow, ready to be reviewed and launched.
✅ Verify: Go back to the Launch tab and confirm the lead reappears in your review queue.
How You'll Know It Worked
✅ Skipped leads don't appear in the Launch section (unless you filter for them)
✅ Skipped leads never receive campaign emails
✅ Un-skipped leads return to the Launch section
✅ Lead count updates (fewer leads "Ready to launch" after skipping)
Troubleshooting
Issue: Can't find the Skip option
Fix: Skip only works on leads in the Launch section (not yet sent). If a lead already received emails, you need to pause or stop them instead of skipping.
Issue: Can't find my skipped leads
Fix: Go to the Lead list tab → Filters → Status → Skipped. If still not visible, they may have been deleted instead of skipped.
Skip vs. Delete vs. Pause
Skip (before launch):
Use when: Lead shouldn't be contacted now, but might be later
Effect: Stays in campaign, won't receive emails, can un-skip anytime
Location: Only in the Launch section
Delete (before or after launch):
Use when: Lead should never be in this campaign
Effect: Permanently removed from campaign
Can't undo: Must re-import if you change your mind
Pause (after launch):
Use when: Lead already received emails, but should stop temporarily
Effect: Stops sequence mid-campaign, can resume later
Location: In Progress section only
💡 Quick rule: Skip = temporary exclusion before sending. Delete = permanent removal. Pause = stop mid-sequence.
Tips for Optimization
Use skip for data enrichment - Skip leads with missing variables, enrich the data offline, then un-skip and launch in a second batch.
Skip duplicates strategically - If you have two entries for the same person, skip one but keep it in case the primary email bounces.
Document skip reasons - Add a note to skipped leads explaining why they were skipped so you remember later.
Bulk skip for exclusions - If you have a list of competitors or partners to exclude, import them, then bulk skip to prevent accidental contact.
