Learning objective
By the end of this tutorial, you’ll know how to purchase a new domain and email addresses directly in lemlist, and how to manage billing by canceling email plans or turning off domain auto-renew.
Why this matters
Buying a domain + mailboxes inside lemlist helps you launch outreach faster, with the essentials (like authentication records) set up automatically. It also centralizes ownership and billing so you can easily manage renewals and monthly email subscriptions.
Prerequisites
You should already have access to your lemlist workspace Settings.
Important: Domain and email purchases can’t be refunded. Once a domain is purchased, it is locked for one year. Email subscriptions are billed monthly.
Important: Domains and emails must be purchased together. You can’t purchase standalone email addresses without a domain, and you can’t buy email addresses for a domain purchased outside lemlist (e.g., Shopify or other registrars).
Slot requirement: Make sure you have available email slots in lemlist to use the purchased email addresses. Depending on your plan, additional slots may be required.
Core lesson: step-by-step workflow
Phase 1: Navigate to the domain purchase area
Click your profile in the bottom-left, then select Settings.
In the left-hand menu, click Buy domains & emails.
Phase 2: Purchase a domain
Phase 3: Create email address(es) and complete checkout
Create at least one email address on your new domain (for example,
[email protected]).Complete the checkout by adding your contact and billing information, then confirm payment.
Pricing note: Mailboxes are priced to be consistent with the market of deliverability-focused providers:
Outlook: Between $9 to $25 per month per account.
Google: Between $6 and $40 per month per account.
Other providers (antispam, SPF, DKIM, etc.): Between $4 and $20 per month per account.
Phase 4: Confirm everything is ready
Once payment is completed, your domain and emails are set up automatically—no extra steps required.
If you have an available seat in both apps, the mailbox is available in lemwarm and lemlist.
Practical application (recommended setup)
Create one mailbox per sending identity (e.g.,
[email protected]) to keep outreach organized and easier to manage.Start small when sending from a brand-new domain and keep sending practices consistent across all mailboxes on the same domain.
Troubleshooting & pitfalls
Issue: I only want to buy email addresses (no domain)
Root cause: lemlist requires purchasing domains and emails together.
Fix: Purchase a domain + at least one email address in lemlist, or connect an existing email address from another provider (see “FAQs” below).
Issue: My domain/mailbox doesn’t show up after purchase
Root cause: Setup/propagation may still be in progress.
Fix: Wait a bit and refresh (it usually takes 2 to 4 hours for full propagation), then contact support if it still doesn’t appear.
Issue: I changed DNS and now email sending isn’t working
Root cause: DNS changes can break domain/email configuration.
Fix: Avoid editing DNS unless you’re instructed by your team or support. If you did edit it, revert changes or contact support with details of what was modified.
Manage billing (cancel email plans or domain auto-renew)
Cancel email plans (stop monthly email billing)
Go to Settings → Buy domains & emails.
Click Settings next to the domain you want to manage.
In the pop-up, expand the Other settings section.
Under Billing, find the Email addresses section, then click Cancel all email plans.
This stops the monthly billing for the email addresses tied to this domain.
Cancel domain auto-renew (stop yearly domain renewal)
This stops the domain from renewing automatically on the next renewal date.
Advanced options (DNS & redirections)
DNS configuration: Each domain includes a DNS Zone section where you can manage DNS records (advanced use).
Redirections: Each domain also includes a URL Redirections section where you can create and manage redirects.
Knowledge check (quick self-review)
Can you explain where to go in lemlist to buy a domain and create mailboxes?
Do you know the difference between Cancel all email plans vs turning off Domain auto-renew?
If something breaks after purchase, do you know whether you should edit DNS yourself or contact support?
FAQs
Can I connect an existing email instead?
Yes. If you already have an email address with another provider, you can connect it to lemlist:
Go to Sending settings.
Click Connect email address.
Follow the on-screen configuration instructions.
What email provider does lemlist use for purchased domains?
Lemlist provides email hosting through Google Workspace (Gmail) or other selected email providers. After purchasing, you’ll get guided steps to create inboxes and start using them in lemlist.
If you purchase Google Workspace emails via lemlist, you also gain administrative control through the Google Workspace Admin Console to manage your domain and users.
How long does it take for my new domain to be active?
After purchasing, it usually takes 2 to 4 hours for the domain to fully propagate and be ready for email sending (often faster).
Limitations and deliverability notes
Some domain names may be unavailable due to existing registrations.
Custom domains include built-in authentication such as SPF, DKIM, and DMARC to support deliverability.
Reputation signals are shared across email addresses on the same domain—keep sending practices consistent to avoid deliverability issues.
