Learning Objective
By the end of this tutorial, you’ll know how to create a People filter in Pipedrive and use it as the source when importing leads into a lemlist campaign.
Why This Matters
Using Pipedrive filters lets you import the right leads into lemlist without manual selection. It also makes it easy to reuse the same criteria later when you want to run another campaign with a similar audience.
Prerequisites
You should already know how to:
Access your Pipedrive account and view contacts
Start a lead import flow in lemlist (Import from CRM)
Core Lesson: Step-by-Step Workflow
Phase 1: Create a filter in Pipedrive (People)
In Pipedrive, go to Contacts and open the People page. This is important because lemlist will only display filters created under People (not Organizations, Deals, or other sections).
Open the filter menu by clicking Filter.
Select Add new filter.
Name your filter and define the conditions that match the leads you want to include (for example, label, owner, activity, etc.). Then save the filter.
Phase 2: Use that Pipedrive filter to import leads into lemlist
In lemlist, go to Campaigns, then open the campaign you want to import leads into.
Open the campaign’s Lead list, then click Import new leads.
Select the CRM import option in the import window.
Choose Pipedrive, then click Continue with Pipedrive.
Select the Pipedrive account you want to use, then choose the Pipedrive filter you created (this filter becomes the source for the people you’ll import into the campaign).
Review the import settings (including any enrichment/duplicate options if shown), then click Confirm to start the import.
Once the import finishes, you’ll see the imported leads listed in the campaign’s lead list.
Practical Application / Real-Life Example
If you regularly run campaigns to a specific segment (e.g., “Inbound leads”, “Prospects owned by X”, or “People with open deals”), create one Pipedrive filter per segment. Then, when launching a new lemlist campaign, you can import that segment in a few clicks by selecting the corresponding filter.
Troubleshooting & Pitfalls
Issue: My filters are not shown when I try to import into lemlist.
Root cause: The filter was created under Organizations, Deals, or another Pipedrive section instead of People.
Fix: Recreate (or move your workflow to) the filter under Contacts → People, then retry the import.
Issue: The imported leads don’t match what I expected.
Root cause: The filter conditions are too broad (or use AND/OR logic differently than intended).
Fix: Edit the filter in Pipedrive, double-check each condition, save it again, and restart the import.
Knowledge Check (Optional)
Did you create your filter under Contacts → People (not Organizations or Deals)?
Can you explain which filter conditions decide who is included?
Did you select the correct saved filter during the lemlist import?
