Set up your SMTP and IMAP

Updated over a month ago

Heeeey lemlister! 👋

I gathered here my finest insights for you to nail your SMTP and IMAP setups.

⛔️ First of all, please note that you cannot use the following SMTP providers with lemlist:

  • Sengrid

  • Mailgun

  • Sendinblue

  • Mailjet

  • O2switch

  • AmazonSES

  • Postmark

  • Cloudmark

  • Hostgator

1. How to set up your SMTP and IMAP?

You can connect almost any email address up to lemlist by adding an SMTP & IMAP mail account.

To get started, on the side menu, select "Settings" 👇

When all settings are open click on the "Sending Settings" section and click on "Connect new email address".

Once you have selected the option to connect a new email address, you will be able to chose the option to connect "Other email provider (SMTP/IMAP).

The next step is to type in your email and password.

Once you click connect lemlist will recognize that the email requires a bit more setup and will transfer you to a new pop-up window which will allow you to edit the SMTP/IMAP

😌 Tell lemlist what email address you will be sending from.

Whichever email address you enter must be allowed by your email provider, otherwise you may have errors during sending or your emails may wind up in spam.

🗣 To tell lemlist how to connect to your email provider, look for the "SMTP" host and port information as laid out by your email provider.

👯 Similarly, look for the "IMAP" host and port information that is listed by your email provider to tell lemlist how to check your inbox for replies.

This is a crucial step so that lemlist knows when and how to:

▪️ stop your follow-up sequences,

▪️ record replies,

▪️ create opportunities,

▪️ and allow you to reply to emails from within lemlist.

Usually, the "username/password" is the same as in your SMTP settings.

2. Test & Save

After you have filled all the fields, click on the [Save changes] to see if lemlist can connect to your email provider.

😇 Don't forget to click on the [Save changes] to save your parameters.

Of course, if you still have some unanswered concerns, feel free to ping us on the chat, we'll be happy to help. 🤗

Enjoy ❤️
