Hey lemlister! 👋
Gmail aliases are alternate email addresses connected to your main Gmail account.
They let you send and receive emails from multiple identities while keeping everything in one inbox — perfect for managing different roles, brands, or purposes.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to:
Create and verify Gmail aliases
Use aliases in lemlist
Understand how aliases affect sending volume and reply tracking
1️⃣ What Are Gmail Aliases?
Aliases act as additional email identities linked to your main Gmail account.
All emails sent through an alias still use your main Gmail’s sending limits and deliverability reputation.
Example:
If your main email is [email protected]
, you can also send from:
All these can be managed from your Gmail settings.
2️⃣ How to Set Up Gmail Aliases
Follow these steps inside Gmail:
Open Gmail → click the ⚙️ gear icon → See all settings
Go to the Accounts tab
Under Send mail as, click Add another email address
Enter the alias email address
✅ Check the box “Treat as an alias”
Complete Gmail’s verification step
Tip: You must have access to the alias mailbox to confirm verification.
3️⃣ Troubleshooting: Aliases Not Appearing
If your alias doesn’t show up in Gmail or lemlist:
It might not be verified yet.
Gmail may still be syncing (propagation delay).
There could be a configuration issue.
Fix:
Unlink and re-link your Gmail account in lemlist
Double-check all steps above were followed correctly
Wait a few minutes and click Refresh inside lemlist settings
4️⃣ Using Gmail Aliases in lemlist
🧩 A. Add or Check Aliases in Account Settings
Go to Settings → Sending Settings
Under your email address, click the ⚙️ Settings button
Open the Email address aliases section
You’ll see all aliases listed here
If not visible, click Refresh to load them
🚀 B. Use an Alias in a Campaign
Open your campaign → Sequence section
Click the sender options icon (⚙️ circled settings)
Choose your alias from the dropdown list
Confirm it’s the correct alias before launching your campaign
5️⃣ Do Aliases Increase My Sending Volume?
No ❌
All emails sent via aliases count toward your main Gmail account’s quota.
With Gmail + lemlist, the standard limit is 100 emails per day per connected sender.
To send more, you’ll need to connect additional email accounts, not just aliases.
6️⃣ Tracking Replies to Gmail Aliases
If you’re using aliases and want lemlist to detect replies correctly, ensure these are set up:
Enable IMAP – lets lemlist read incoming messages.
Set up automatic forwarding – so replies sent to aliases go to your main inbox.
Confirm forwarding rules – to avoid missed or unsynced replies.
Proper IMAP and forwarding setup is crucial for accurate tracking and CRM sync.
