Learn how to assign column names to default lemlist types or custom variables when importing leads via CSV

Updated over a week ago

Hey lemlister!

Struggling with CSV imports and encountering errors or missing LinkedIn URLs in your sequences? We’ve got you covered!

Assign Column Names Correctly

When importing a CSV, you'll need to assign each column to either a default lemlist custom variable or a custom variable tag during the second step.

Default lemlist custom varibales:

  • {{email}}

  • {{firstName}}

  • {{lastName}}

  • {{picture}}

  • {{phone}}

  • {{linkedinUrl}}

  • {{companyName}}

  • {{icebreaker}}

If your CSV contains multiple email or LinkedIn profile columns, make sure to assign the column you want lemlist to use as a default type (e.g., {{email}} or {{linkedinUrl}}) so it’s recognized correctly.

What About Other Columns?

Columns not assigned to a default type will automatically become custom variables, named after their column headers.

Example:
If your CSV has a column named Job Link, the corresponding custom variable will be {{Job Link}}.
