When you make a call through lemlist, the number of minutes deducted depends on where you're calling. This article explains how the four destination pricing tiers work, how billed minutes are calculated, and how admins can track team consumption.
Destination pricing tiers
The tier for each call is determined automatically via Twilio, based on the estimated cost per minute for your specific from/to number combination. The applied multiplier is shown in the dialer before you call, in both focus mode and the dialer widget.
Tier | Multiplier | Estimated cost/min | Examples |
Basic | ×1 | < $0.06 | France, UK, USA |
Standard | ×2 | < $0.15 | — |
Global | ×4 | < $0.30 | — |
Premium | ×8 | > $0.30 | South Africa |
For the full list of supported countries and their tiers, see the country and rates page.
How billed minutes are calculated
Billed minutes = actual call duration (rounded up to the nearest full minute) × tier multiplier.
Example: A 1-minute call to South Africa (Premium, ×8) deducts 8 minutes from your team counter. At 4 credits per billed minute, that call costs 32 credits.
Rounding rules
Call duration is always rounded up to the nearest full minute.
A 5-second call in Basic tier = 1 billed minute (4 credits).
A 5-second call in Standard tier = 2 billed minutes (8 credits).
Calls that are not answered at all count as 0 seconds and are not debited.
Monthly minute allowances by plan
Multichannel Expert: 400 calling minutes per user/month
Enterprise: 800 calling minutes per user/month
Top-up pricing (credits per additional minute) is unchanged. See Credits: how they work for details.
Track team consumption (admins)
Team admins can monitor per-destination usage from the Calls section. The Calls CSV export includes two dedicated columns:
Country code multiplier — the tier multiplier applied to the call.
Billed minutes — the actual minutes deducted after applying the multiplier.
Use these columns to identify which destinations consume the most minutes and plan top-ups accordingly.
Common questions
How do I know which tier applies to my call?
The tier is determined automatically via Twilio based on the estimated cost per minute for your from/to number combination. The applied multiplier is shown in the dialer before you confirm the call, in both focus mode and the dialer widget — no manual lookup needed.
Does an unanswered call deduct minutes?
No. Calls that are not answered count as 0 seconds and are not debited from your balance.
Why did a short call deduct more than 1 minute?
Call duration is always rounded up to the nearest full minute. A 5-second call counts as 1 billed minute at minimum. If the destination is Standard tier or above, the tier multiplier is applied on top of that rounding.
What if I run out of minutes mid-month?
You can top up at any time from Call settings using credits. The rate is 4 credits per billed minute (unchanged). Top-up minutes roll over.
Best practices
Check the tier multiplier in the dialer before calling a country for the first time.
Reserve Premium-tier destinations for high-priority conversations — they consume up to 8× your minute allowance.
Monitor team consumption via the Calls CSV export: the Country code multiplier and Billed minutes columns show exactly where minutes are going.
Top up proactively rather than waiting to run out, especially when your team makes frequent international calls.
