Launch a Power Dialer session in lemlist

Turn a batch of call tasks into one automated calling session — task selection, dialer settings, what is excluded automatically, and what the first release does not cover yet.

Power Dialer turns a batch of call tasks into a single automated calling session. Instead of opening each lead, waiting through the ring, listening to a voicemail greeting, and going back to the list, lemlist dials each number in turn, detects whether a person or an answering machine picked up, and connects you only on live answers. The result is more time spent talking to leads and less time managing the queue.

Limitations

  • You must call from a lemlist-bought phone number. Connected external numbers, including Aircall and Ringover, are not supported, because lemlist needs full control of the line to manage spam labelling.

  • You cannot dial several lines at once. Power Dialer calls one number at a time.

  • Voicemail drop is not available.

  • Live transcript is not available.

  • An end-of-session recap and advanced reporting are not available.

  • Voicemail detection is not fully accurate. Occasional false positives and false negatives happen while detection is being tuned.

  • Attempts to the same phone number are capped at 5 per month in Power Dialer mode, to avoid over-calling leads.

Prerequisites

How do I start a Power Dialer session?

Step 1: Select the call tasks you want to dial

Open Tasks from the left sidebar, tick the call tasks you want in the session, then click Launch power dialer in the bottom action bar. You can pick a few leads or select all matching tasks — the session is built from whatever you select.

✅ Verify: the Call session window opens with your selected contacts listed.

Step 2: Review the leads included in the session

Check the calling order, phone numbers, campaigns, and recent attempt history, then click Next. Unsubscribed leads and invalid phone numbers are excluded automatically when the session starts. If leads are missing a phone number, you can choose to enrich them before continuing.

Step 3: Choose your dialing settings and start

On the Settings step of the Call session, set how the dialer should handle unanswered calls and voicemails and which number to call from, then click Start dialing.

✅ Verify: the Calling step opens and the first number starts ringing.

What each Power Dialer setting does

  • Number of parallel lines: Power Dialer calls one number at a time. Parallel dialing is not available.

  • Phone number to use: the lemlist number you place the calls from. Useful if you keep region-specific numbers.

  • Skip voicemails: hangs up as soon as an answering machine is detected, so the session moves straight to the next lead.

  • Mark as done after X attempts: closes the task automatically after the chosen number of unanswered attempts, so it does not stay in your queue.

  • Record calls: records calls by default. You can turn recording off on a specific answered call.

What happens during the session

Once you click Start dialing, calls chain one after another. lemlist rings each number, detects whether a human or an answering machine picked up, hangs up on voicemails, and connects you only on live answers. Any call that goes straight to voicemail, or rings for more than 20 seconds without an answer, is dropped automatically.

In the Calling step you can follow call status, attempts, campaign details, and overall session progress. Click Stop to end the session early.

All existing call features stay available during a session: recording, transcript, AI summary, AI follow-up, notes, and statuses.

Practical example

A rep with a full block of call tasks selects all of them and launches one session instead of opening each lead in turn. With Skip voicemails enabled and a realistic value set for Mark as done after X attempts, the rep only picks up the conversation when someone actually answers, and unanswered tasks close themselves.

Best practice: call from a lemlist number that matches the lead's region when you have one, keep Skip voicemails on if your goal is talk time, and set an attempt limit so old tasks do not stay open.

Troubleshooting and common pitfalls

Issue: I cannot launch a Power Dialer session

Root cause: your calling setup uses a number that was not bought through lemlist.

  • Check which number is connected to your calling setup.

  • Confirm the number was purchased through lemlist.

  • If you use Aircall, Ringover, or another external number, buy a lemlist number to use Power Dialer.

Issue: Some leads are missing when the session starts

Root cause: unsubscribed leads and invalid phone numbers are excluded automatically at launch.

  • Check the original task list for lead status and phone number validity.

  • Enrich missing phone numbers on the review step before starting the session.

Issue: Calls end without connecting me

Root cause: the call went straight to voicemail, or rang for more than 20 seconds without an answer.

  • Check the result shown in the Calling step.

  • If the result shows voicemail, an answering machine was detected and the call was dropped. Detection is not fully accurate, so a live answer is occasionally dropped this way.

  • Retry later, within the monthly attempt limit.

Issue: I cannot keep calling the same number

Root cause: attempts to the same number are capped at 5 per month in Power Dialer mode.

  • Check the lead's recent attempt history on the review step.

  • Wait until the next month, or call that lead outside a Power Dialer session.
