Cancel your lemlist account

Cancel your plan to leave the lemlist family

Updated this week

TL;DR

Cancel your lemlist subscription to stop automatic renewal at the end of your current billing cycle. You'll keep access to all paid features until that date, then your account moves to a freemium plan. You can undo the cancellation anytime before the billing period ends. Takes about 2 minutes to complete.

Who Should Read This

  • Current paid users – Learn exactly what happens when you cancel and how your data is handled

  • Users considering cancellation

  • Users who changed their mind – See how to reactivate before the billing period ends

If you want to switch plans instead of canceling entirely, see Upgrade or downgrade plan.

Why This Matters

Understanding the cancellation process prevents billing surprises and data loss. When you cancel, you're not immediately locked out. Your subscription stays active until the end of your current billing cycle. This means you paid for that time, and you get to use it fully.

After cancellation takes effect, your account moves to a freemium plan with limited features. Your campaigns, leads, and historical data remain accessible, but you lose access to premium features like sending campaigns, advanced integrations, multichannel sequences, and lemwarm email warming. Knowing what you'll keep and what you'll lose helps you make an informed decision.

Key Concept: What Cancellation Actually Means

Canceling your subscription does three things:

  1. Stops automatic renewal – Your subscription will not renew at the end of the current billing cycle. No future charges will occur unless you manually reactivate.

  2. Keeps your access active until the end of the billing period – If you're on a monthly plan and cancel on day 10, you still have access until day 30. You paid for the full month, so you keep the features for the full month.

  3. Downgrades to freemium after the billing period ends – On the day your billing cycle ends, your account automatically moves to a free plan with basic features.

What you keep:

  • All your campaign data, leads, and email templates

  • Your account login and team structure

  • Access to view past campaign results and analytics

What you lose access to:

  • lemwarm email warming (emails will no longer warm automatically)

  • Sending campaigns

  • Advanced integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, etc.)

  • AI-powered features (AI sequence generation, AI voice messages)

  • Premium support and priority assistance

  • Ability to send new campaigns (you can view but not launch new ones)

⚠️ Important: Canceling is different from deleting your account. Canceling stops billing and moves you to a free plan. Deleting your account permanently removes all data. If you want to delete your account entirely, please contact lemlist support.

  5. Confirm the cancellation when prompted. You may be asked to provide feedback. This is optional but helps us improve.

  6. You'll see a confirmation message showing the date when your subscription ends and your account moves to the free plan.

How You'll Know It Worked

  • Your Plans & billing page shows a cancellation notice with the effective date.

  • You receive a confirmation email from lemlist stating your subscription has been canceled.

  • An Undo cancellation button appears in the Plans & billing section until your billing period ends.

  • Your account still works normally until the billing period ends. You keep all features until then.

  • No new charges appear on future billing dates.

How to Reactivate a Canceled Subscription

If you change your mind after canceling, you can reactivate your subscription anytime before the billing period ends:

  1. Click your workspace name in the bottom-left corner and select Plans & billing.

  2. You'll see a notice saying your subscription is scheduled to end on a specific date.

  3. Click Undo cancellation.

  4. Your subscription will resume, and you'll be charged again on your next billing date.

💡 Tip: If the billing period has already ended and your account moved to freemium, you can still reactivate by going to Plans & billing and selecting a plan to upgrade.

Troubleshooting

Issue: I canceled my subscription but was still charged.

  • Root cause: You likely canceled after your billing date already passed or only disabled seat access

  • Fix: Check the cancellation confirmation email for the effective date. If you were charged incorrectly, contact [email protected] with your invoice number. Include the date you canceled and the date you were charged. Our billing team will review and issue a refund if applicable.

Issue: The 'Cancel your current plan' button is grayed out or missing.

  • Root cause: You may not have the necessary permissions (Admin role required), or you're on a trial/freemium plan that doesn't require cancellation.

  • Fix: Verify you're logged in as an Admin by going to Settings → Team. Check your role. If you're a Member or Extern, ask the Admin to cancel. If you're on a free trial, the trial will end automatically after 14 days, no cancellation needed.

Issue: I canceled but my campaigns are still running.

  • Root cause: Cancellation only stops billing at the end of the current cycle. Your campaigns continue until that date.

  • Fix: This is expected behavior. If you want to stop campaigns immediately, go to each campaign and click Pause or Stop manually. Canceling only stops renewal, it doesn't pause active campaigns.

Issue: What happens to my team members after cancellation?

  • Root cause: Not an issue, this is a common question about team accounts.

  • Answer: All team members remain in your workspace. However, once the billing period ends, everyone loses access to premium features. If you're managing a team, consider informing members before canceling. If you want to remove seats first, see How to remove seats.

Issue: I want to permanently delete my account, not just cancel.

  • Root cause: Cancellation stops billing but keeps your data. Deletion is a separate process.

  • Fix: To permanently delete all your data, reach out to lemlist support.
