Hey lemlister! 👋

Overview

This guide provides everything you need to know about managing Gmail aliases.

Gmail aliases are a powerful tool for organizing emails, managing multiple identities, and enhancing productivity. Whether you’re using them for personal or professional purposes, this article will show you how to add and use them effectively.

Get Started

Aliases in Gmail allow you to send and receive emails using alternate addresses linked to your main Gmail account. To get started, ensure you have access to your Gmail settings and any additional email addresses you'd like to link.

Step-by-Step

  1. Open Gmail and click on the gear icon to access Settings, then See all settings.

  2. Navigate to the Accounts tab.

  3. Under Send mail as, click Add another email address.

  4. Enter the alias email address and follow the verification steps. Make sure to select Treat as an alias.

If aliases aren’t appearing, it means they haven’t been set up correctly.

To resolve this, unlink and relink your email provider to ensure the issue isn’t caused by propagation delays or misconfigurations. Double-check the alias setup steps to confirm all details are accurate.

Adding Aliases in Campaigns

  1. Go to the desired campaign, then to the Sequence section.

  2. Open the sender options, click on the circled settings icon, and choose the alias you want to use from the dropdown menu. Ensure the correct alias is selected before sending your email.

Will Aliases Increase My Volume?

Using Gmail aliases does not increase your sending limit because all emails sent via aliases count toward your main emails' daily sending quota (a 100 emails per day for lemlist).

If higher volume is required, consider adding additional emails.

Important to nore: If you’re using aliases and want to track replies, make sure to:

  1. Set up IMAP: This ensures emails are properly synced across all devices and services.

  2. Configure Forwarding Rules: Set up automatic forwarding of replies to your primary inbox for easy management.

  3. Enable Email Forwarding: Ensure replies to your alias addresses are forwarded correctly to avoid missed responses.

Properly configuring these settings is essential for seamless email tracking and management.
