How to change the sender of your campaign?

Need to assign your campaign to someone else? Here's how.

Updated over a month ago

Heeeeey lemlister! 👋

Sometimes, team changes mean a campaign that used to be sent by one sender now needs to be sent by someone else. No worries—I’ve got you covered with answers and recommendations for every situation. Let’s dive in!

1️⃣ What Happens to My Campaign When I Change Its Sender?

This depends on whether your campaign has already started contacting leads:

  • If no leads have been contacted yet: You’re good to go! Jump to the next section, 2️⃣.

  • If leads have already been contacted: Keep reading for details in section 3️⃣.

2️⃣ Where Can I Change the Sender in My Campaign?

You can easily change the sender directly in the Sequence section of your campaign:

  • For email steps, look for the "Sender for email steps" field.

  • For LinkedIn steps, check the "LinkedIn account used to send message" field.

Click the dropdown arrow next to each field and select the new sender.

💡 Important: Only users with active seats and connected email providers or LinkedIn accounts can be chosen as senders.

3️⃣ Once I Change the Sender, Who Will Contact My Leads?

Here’s how sender changes affect your campaign:

  • New leads (not yet contacted): They will be contacted by the new sender.

  • Leads already contacted by the old sender: They will continue receiving follow-ups from the old sender unless otherwise stated.

If you're wondering how to spot the difference, check the image below:

🔵 Blue circled number: Leads not yet engaged in the campaign.

🟢 Green circled number: Leads already engaged in the campaign.

Here’s how it works based on your old sender’s status:

  1. Old sender is still an active user with an enabled seat:

    • Leads already engaged: Follow-ups will continue from the old sender.

    • New leads: Will be contacted by the new sender.

  2. Old sender is still a user but with a disabled seat:

    • Leads already engaged: No follow-ups will be sent.

    • New leads: Will be contacted by the new sender.

  3. Old sender is no longer part of your team:

    • Leads already engaged: No follow-ups will be sent.

    • New leads: Will be contacted by the new sender.
