Remove a lead from a campaign

Want to delete a lead from your campaign? Here's how.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Use this guide to remove one or more leads from a lemlist campaign.

Learning Objective

By the end of this tutorial, you’ll know how to delete selected leads from a campaign’s lead list and understand what data is removed along with them.

Why This Matters

Cleaning up your campaign lead list helps keep targeting accurate and prevents outreach to the wrong contacts. It also ensures your reporting reflects only the leads you actually want in the campaign.

Prerequisites

  • You have access to the campaign where the leads are currently enrolled.

  • You know the name or can locate the lead(s) you want to remove.

Core Lesson — Step-by-Step Workflow

Phase 1: Open the lead list

  1. Open the campaign you want to edit.

  2. Go to the Lead list section.

  3. Locate the lead(s) you want to remove (use the search bar if needed).

Phase 2: Delete the selected lead(s)

  1. Tick the checkbox next to the lead(s) you want to remove, then in the bottom action bar click Delete to remove the selected lead(s) from the campaign.

Practical Application / Real-Life Example

If a lead replies asking not to be contacted, you can select that lead in the Lead list and delete them from the campaign so they won’t receive any future steps.

Troubleshooting & Pitfalls

Issue: You can’t find the lead in the list.
Root cause: The lead may be in a different campaign, filtered out, or listed under a slightly different identifier.
Fix:

  • Use the search bar in the lead list (try email address first).

  • Clear any active filters, then search again.

Issue: The lead is removed, but you still expected to see their stats.
Root cause: Stats for removed leads are permanently deleted.
Fix:

  • Only remove leads when you’re sure you no longer need their campaign performance data.

Important

When you remove a lead, all associated stats data for that lead will be permanently deleted. This action is irreversible, so proceed carefully when deciding to remove leads from your campaign.
